The Pietra Rossa Garden
1/7
Solanas, Sardegna, Italy
"The alchemist’s laboratory"
On a rocky hill on the south-eastern coast of Sardinia, this garden is located in one of the hottest and arid parts of the island.
The garden has grown under the direction of Maurizio Usai, as his personal garden, becoming over time a precious domestic Eden, where a profusion of diverse plant species and chromatic and architectural design solutions have been tested during the last 25-years.
The influence of the classic English garden is evident here, although as strongly represented in the garden is the Mediterranean spirit, both fusing to create a fresh and lush oasis that emerges naturally from the harsh surrounding landscape.
